Popular Post CaptainQuintero
I've been stuck all day in a car with Aircon on the blink, finally got home and I'm easily par-boiled, nearly poached. Not going to need any messing about so it's a firm favourite in the QdO Corona. Not even going to pause to grab a drink/book/sunglasses, I'm running for the garden! First off and it's a burst of rich and tangy cream, cut through with a citrus sharpness. My gut says passion fruit but my brain tells me to behave. Let's leave it at citrus. Burn is being a little erratic but hopefully it's just going to settle down. Into the second third and the tangy nature has dropped back and the whole smoke has taken on a much more mellow character. It's still very rich but in a laid back, soft lilting manner. That citrus sharpness has also faded but the flavour is creeping around in the background. There's a touch of herbal here too, a sight hint of nutty milk coffee as well. In fact you'd be very much given if you said this was Cohiba, there's certainly a lot of shared DNA here, possibly just a little more subtlety in the QdO blend. Final third and burn issues have carried on needing touch ups, the wrapper is getting into that 2008 burn proof realm. This was kept in a sealed caddy for at least a month so I'm guessing there's more humidity out there than I'm picking up on, or it's just an issue with the tobacco used. It's a shame as QdO seem to buck the trend in terms of quality and consistency for me. Not a huge amount of progression beyond the usual gradual darkening of flavours across the board as the cigar burns it's way down. 89/100 possibly a little generous but the flaws that were there didn't effect the flavours a huge amount, it's just that quality of tobacco used seemed to really let it down.
