BoliDan Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 I was going back and forth about doing an interesting cigar or trying another cigar from a box that has been angering me to no end. I decided to go with the latter. These have been very dull over the past 7 months. Looking at these RASS, the appear to be very good looking, nice sheen, rolled very nicely and come from a great factory of 2018 (REG). So, I thought I'd give it another chance with this reveiw. Appearance is great. I hand picked this one for this reveiw. Sheen Colorado claro wrapper, great construction, right at 50rg perfectly, firm but not hard. Cold draw gave sweet nutty flavor, good draw. 1st third. Starting out great. Toast, leather, cinnamon raisin and small doses of black pepper. I think I got a good one! Aaaand just like that I loose all flavor out of this guy. Damn I was real excited but the flavors just dropped completely out. Second third: Detecting some light herbal flavors, sweetness remains on the tongue but not with any discernable sweetness... table sugar perhaps. Went from medium body to light. Mild in strength. I'd like to point out how great the construction on this is. Cant even shake the ash off. Still taste like nothing. Final third: getting some strength back, but the taste is bland. Before you start questioning my storage, I'd like to say these were kept in 62rh for 7 months and this is actually one of the better ones I've had from the box so far... flavors are tobacco, wood (not good flavorful wood, more like a tasteless 2x4) and some white pepper. nubbed it just for the reveiw sake. This was a great looking, great burning, well made cigar. I blame the blender... maybe I got the top of the bail and just ran out of seco/ligero (whatever they use in RASS) and didnt care... i dont know, I'll probably buy a single next time I make a purchase just to restore my faith in the marque. 79/100 Great 1st third construction and burn saved this from going lower. Smoke time: 1 hour 38 minutes 4 2
NSXCIGAR Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Blandness has always been my issue with RASS. Recent 17-18 have been more flavorful but the blend a bit off for me. 1
Islandboy Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Halfway through my second box of RASS and just now feeling the love. After 3 years down. Not a ROTT cigar IMO.

These aren't going to get any better. A lot of people saying how RASS is smoking fantastic right now. Our Russian friend @nKostyan told me the same thing last time that I complained about this box, but then he tried a 2018 RASS, and loved them, in a more recent post. Unfortunately, I think these are dead in the water. You can just tell that these have zero flavors to evolve and not enough strength to get an better. ?
