Thanks for that review. I have a couple sticks from a trade that I haven't touched - haven't had this cigar yet.  What would you say would be an appropriate drink to pair the Choix with given it's delicate flavor?

I was thinking a morning tea the whole time smoking this one. Something I have never tried. This is one of the few smokes I did not accompany with a beverage, usually at least some mineral water but my planning failed me. I would be interested in trying a nice summer Gewerztraminer, or even an IPA with a juicy tropical finish. Something @lovethehaze could suggest from his hoppy memories I am sure. A distilled sprit would overpower this particular example imo.

What part of the states are you from ? The haze is so different based on geography. I can def recommend some once i have a better idea of where you are located. Seems like most small crafts are local and hard to find outside of the region one is in.

Mostly west coast. My brother is in ID now and he is Brewing his own wort. He has an extensive network of hop heads who travel interstate for the right release. I am more of a wine guy. Way to old to be banging beers all week. Guaranteed  weight gain program. I do cross the line for the right TIPA though.

West coast is where it all started... Sierra Nevada, Ballast point, Deschutes has a few good ones, Firestone, Elysian, green flash before they changed their recipe, and Russian river just to name a few. Those are all old school west coast IPA’s; solid but lack complexity and tropical finish we are looking for. More malty and serious hop backbone. Kind of like a 3 Floyd’s near to me in Indiana was really popular but malt backbone weakening their business a lot.
The newer influx near me is the NEIPA, maybe past 3 years, sometimes adding lactose and hop oils to make sweet and smoooth. When done right literally must drink within 2-3 weeks max to get true taste. Otherwise gets overcarbinated and tastes funny. The dry or wet hopping process is pretty crazy almost like not really cooked hops maybe rare hopped ? Creating the crazy haze and flavor to go many directions. I am also seeing lots of solely dry hopped ipa’s now, they are ok but get back to malty beer taste solely, very One dimensional.
I am quite sure there are many NEIPA’s to try by you but the best ones near me are literally scooped up within a day at the local stores. Locally brewed and have small cult followings. Hop Butcher, Maplewood and Noon whistle jump out at me instantly as I write this.
I also love a great TIPA and also will drink only 1 NEIPA at a sitting maybe a few times a week. I truly love the flavors and complexity they are creating no need for the added lbs or to try to get drunk. Typically we are 7.5% and higher on all these as well. So one does me well.
I actually had a Leinenkugals summer shandy last night from Wisconsin very lemonade refreshing for a hot day and love old style and old school lagers. I am no beer snob but this NEIPA fad is going crazy and what they are doing with the flavors is amazing.
My suggestion would be to go to a nice tap room and see what NEIPA’s they have and ask for samples usually not an issue. One will jump out with flavor and make you smile
