HDGSN Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 Fonseca Delicias ELU FEB 15 (MPCRW) Bought these (instead of Quintero Favoritos) for 55CUC at 5ta Avenida in December intending them to be dogwalkers My understanding was that these were machine made until 2002 but then became handmade and that they may be long filler with the early 2015 code. Are they? I am not sure. CCW lists them as short filler, but a Google search of that question links to a 2015 FoH Thread where someone links to CCW as a means of saying they aren’t short filler. Perhaps there was a transition between then and now? These certainly stack a nice dime ash for an inch that they could be long filler, and the flavor is more than toasted tobacco. Let’s review... Cold Draw: Pipe tobacco and maduro Nicaraguan leather 1st Third: Yes, there is toasted tobacco, but also cardamom and white pepper 2nd Third: Rather complex back and forth between dry oatmeal raisin cookie, white pepper, coffee bean (tastes like it smells), and fresh jalapeño finish - no toasted tobacco at all and really where this cigar shines Last Third: Baker’s chocolate and Bischoff cookies, more white pepper before it starts running hot Final Thoughts: As non-Cuban as a Cuban gets for me (which makes me lean to short filler as its make up). Makes me think of a Padron x000 Series with flashes of Ramon Allones. Enjoyed with a Cuba Libre Smoke Time: 40 minutes Score: 88/100 Value Considered Score: 95/100 3
