I think it´s not his fault. Agree. He could have held it back himself or could have stopped it at various points but he said nothing and let the cigar go to waste. Of course he’s going to chose the colorful multi banded example if you give an idiot the choice I hope you at least called the guy out for being a jerk, having no respect, and wasting the stick. 1

Dont forget the really cool, pointy tip. It is so much cooler than those flat ended cigars.
LGC Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Had a good cigar friend that let me down once. I left several boxes at his place that I was picking up at a later time because I forgot them... 1996 Monte Especial, 2001 Cab SLR DC, 2001 RyJ Cazadores, 1998 Cab RyJ TPC. His wife grabbed some 1996 Montes to smoke with girlfriends, he smoked the full box of Cazadores, smoked a bunch of the SLR DCs, and used the RyJ TPCs for a speed smoking competition at his place. I don’t give ANYONE the benefit of the doubt anymore... PERIOD 1 1 1
Kitchen Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I have never had this happen with cigars, but have with wine. At a family event, we decided to open a pretty good bottle of wine. Another family member who was not a wine drinker approached us and asked if she could have some. Being family, we kind of could not refuse and poured her a glass. Turned around and made a spritzer with it. 1 2

I dont see why anyone would think that is a good idea. It's like doing shots of good liquor. Did he at least compensate you for all these?

LGC Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 They are cigars, not children. I lived 4 hrs away from him and traveled 100% for work. I was hours away before I found out the bag was not in my car. I brought them down to hand out for a small gathering. I told him to hold them in his humidor until my next visit. Didn’t say anything about helping himself to everything. Thanks for your assumptions. I guess I shouldn’t be disappointed that they were smoked without my knowledge or permission...

They do indeed! I've handed out Fonseca No 1, which are some of my favorites and a good intro into CC, and no one complemented the flavor or smoked more than half. Flavored NCs, exact opposite. Great complements and people nubbed them. Works for me, keeps my CC stash up!
JamesKPolkEsq Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Lessons learned always cost something! In fact, I'd bet dollars to donuts that wasn't even the most expensive mistake you made in the last 12 months. I know it stings (hell, it hurts to read the story as a third party) but at least you got a decent story and you can laugh at it when some time has passed. Next time you'll have a strategy to prevent this I'll wager, and you probably have more rare cigars in your collection to enjoy! Life is too short agonizing over what might have been, smoke a fine cigar and reflect! I always bring something recognizable but not fancy for my friends / acquaintances and smoke what they're smoking. Variety is the spice of existence. 1

Upgrade on the people you hang out with. Prince or pauper, I treat them with equal respect UNTIL there is one whiff that they put themselves first. Then they are are buried for life. this type of FKtard get's right under my skin. Purge them to the edge of existance as you would a paedophile. 6 1

RyviaUSA Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I thought this forum was slow before this thread. Woah baby I just felt nitrous kick in.
cmbarton Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 This is how it would have gone down if it were me offering free cigars. ”Hey, guys! I brought you all some cream-of-the-crop Habanos: Quintero y Hermano Favoritos! I heard they call them Favoritos because they were Fidel Castro’s favorite. What am I going to smoke? Just this crappy cigar that I would feel bad if I gave it to you. This cigar was so awful, Cohiba even put the year on it so everyone knew which ones are from the bad year. You know those Cohibas in the glass top boxes in Cancun? No year band so you know they’re good. Oh well ... you guys enjoy yourself, though!” 1 1

Ericbrobes Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I've seen this too often! I now only bring cigars for a select few, always seem to give away the last one just before the random hands start reaching ?♂️
VRATJV07 Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I have noticed that people who primarily smoke cigarettes try to smoke cigars the same way. Draw on them so hard that they get too hot too fast. Like take your time and enjoy it for god sakes
Jnavas1500 Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I’ve noticed that too... I hand out Partagas Chicos, and Cohiba mini ?

A mutual friend of ours decides he is going to make himself a drink and pours himself about half a glass of Louis XIII Cognac and then proceeds to fill the rest of the glass with Pepsi. ? But at least he drank it all..

This person knew full well what he was drinking and just didn't give a sh*t. Needless to say, he was banished for quite a long time after that incident and the "good stuff" is now under lock and key.

But the worst part was that he never even said thank you, but again I have learned my lesson. Not being rude but in the instance I was placed in that position, I would have chosen my least expensive/quality cigar, given that to the non friend and offered the Top cigar to my good friend. Always have a back up cigar that you least like for non friends I suppose? Saying that, all cigars you offered are great. I personally would have taken the BBF or Dip 2 over the COHIBA but that's just my taste.
