El Presidente Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 I am a lover of a good basic Thai sauce. That perfect balance of saltiness from the fish sauce, sweetness from the palm sugar, sourness of the lime, spice from the thinly sliced chilli. It all comes together to sing on the tongue. In which cigars can we find elements of extremes/opposites/contrasts that just work? Cuban or Non Cuban Choc/cream and some savoury spice? Golden toast, leather and honey? Honey/sugar and paprika? I think one of the reasons that I enjoy current Juan Lopez seleccion number 2 so much is the interplay of burnt toast, candy/citrus. Hard to explain, just works so well.
JohnS Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 An aged Sancho Panza cigar with some toasted tobacco, wood, salt and creamy textured aftertaste on the mouth. That's about as opposite in flavours for me as it gets, but it works wonderfully for a unique Habanos blend. 2
ayepatz Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 For me it’s that contrast of fruit and meatiness. I often get flashes of citrus among the gamey, leathery flavours in BCG. And the last SLRDC I tried showed apple and apricot as well as meaty flavours. SLR generally, for me, gives me interesting contrasts no matter the vitola.
encephalization Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 The best Encantos I've had has had a classic PL honey sweetness (that goes into a caramel sweetness in the second 3rd), to be joined with a nice spice in the final half/third of the cigar.
zeedubbya Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Rafael Gonzalez PC has a unique combo of chocolate combined with a floral quality for me which sounds like it would be bad, but I think it works very well. Add that Cuban fizziness occasionally and most times they smoke way way above their price point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

I’m with you John, my SP Belis are probably the most unique flavored in my humidor....some aromatic cedar, a bit salty, a bit sweet. Hard to describe, but it works. 1
Wilzc Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 I had a Davidoff Maduro last night... Cocoa and Mushrooms.. Cannot say I liked it...
