cardinalfan85 Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Fall has arrived here in the foothills of North Carolina, it is sunny and in the 40s. A beautiful day. I was going to let these Trinidads rest arleast until next summer but figured Id try one for this weekends review. I have an Olde Hickory Brewery Christmas Ale to go with this cigar, it is refreshing. The cigar has a perfect draw, the wrapper is dark and golden. The flavors start with a cinnamon donut-esq flavor. Getting a little further into it and I am unable to discern much of anything. Maybe a little cocoa and wood. It is harsh and muddled at this point. Down towards the first band and there are some floral notes and bread flavors. A little bit of milk chocolate as well. It all seems a bit muted. The burn has been a little wonky and I've tried to correct it a couple times. The draw is still wonderful. I will say I don't have much experience with this Marca. I have a box of Reyes that I can see some similarities with especially this floral, milk chocolate bit. I'm glad I picked up one box of these Topes but I am not going to touch it again for atleast a year. Finishing this up and I'm picking out some lovely baked spiced nuts and also slight barnyard. Overall this cigar is good not great. I can see it being great in a few years time. There flavors progressed as it went along but were muddled at points. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and a Happy Veterans Day to my fellow service men and women (regardless of country)! Climb to Glory! Cheers Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 3
TheMonk Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Nice review, and I completely agree - they need to rest quite a bit more to really shine, IMO. 1
NSXCIGAR Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 The one example I've had was very similar. I liked it and definitely detected Trini DNA but there was some muddling of flavors. If and when they sort themselves out this could be a very good cigar. 2
Sean3 Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 Definitely sounds like some down time could benefit these sticks significantly. Thanks for the review. 2

As long as you have the 'DNA' of the marca, you have hope in long-term resting. If not, forget it. Complex cigars can take time to mature. 3
