Hi

Yesterday I had an H. Upmann Half Corona, and today a Cohiba Secretos. I enjoyed both of them, but they tasted the same (a nice expresso taste).

Just wondered if anyone else has a pair of cigars that taste similar for them?

The blind tasting results would indicate that this is definitely common.  Inhabe experienced it fosho.

Maybe they were made in the same factory!

But the difference in wrapper is quite stark no?

Not complaining though. One is WAAAY cheaper than the other

If you are finding the HUHC tasting similar to a secretos (assuming you enjoy the flavour) then I would go get more half coronas, they're considerably cheaper!

Interetingly I smoked a CAO criollo robusto that I had been given over the summer yesterday. To my palate the first third tasted just like a HUPC. While it quickly went south after that, I was surprised at the opening.

Funny you should say this but the HUHC was dark and not far off maduro, so this might explain it.

And yes, more HUHC on the way as it's cheaper.

There is a really pleasing grassyness I get from Siglo III and some Monte 2s. Admittedly this probably indicates an unrefined palate but it's a profile I definately enjoy.
