Been following this for awhile now.

This kind of weaponized sound technology has been around for a while now.

Permanent hearing damage, that's gotta be painful.

There's a really great article on this at MOTHERBOARD

It sounds like it started around November of last year. Does anyone here have anything to say for themselves? :D

I know acoustic weaponry has been around for several years now, but I have not heard of versions powerful enough to cause brain damage and memory loss. I am staying across the street from Hotel Capri in a few months, just like last November. The band on the roof goes until 2 or 3 am Thurs-Sun nights. I thought I had brain damage by the time I left!

Only noise attacks I've experienced in HAV was that of too noisy tourists in places like Floridita or too loud Regueton played on the stereo in old Havana or in cabs ...:)

You staying in the same apartment? Got a couple great photos from that deck! Damn, tho, yes the band up top DID NOT STOP.. had no idea who they were playing to, me thinks it was 5 foreigners and and a bunch of chairs.. Dad slept in the bed by the deck, I slept on the futon with my earbuds in. :sleeping:Felt sorry for Dad.

Like Cory, I really liked some of the art. This was in that Apartment.

In this photo below, the Cab with the blue lighted interior never moved all night. Dad and I watched it for 3-4 hours. The guys stood outside the cab, had lots of lost foreigners types ask them questions although they didn't seem too interested in helping. We wondered what they were up to.

This is one of my favorite photos I've ever taken. If you have a sharp eye you can see where I took the photo, two photos above. My dad (@jacketfan) put me on the photo and it occurred to me as I was framing the shot that I was seeing the new revolucíon. The old and the new.. The old (mom inside talking to the adults), and the new with the youngsters on the deck getting WiFi (the window to the world) from the hotel next-door.

This will become a real problem if they close the embassy again. My mother brought this story up tonight as we talked. She reminded me of the challenges of traveling to a foreign country that lacks an embassy for your native country.

Yeah Gary - the Cuban gov't says you're only allowed to bring back just 2 cigars for your own personal consumption or are subject to arrest!!!  Watch your ass LOL........

Oz doesn't have an embassy in cuba either.  Nearest is Mexico.

In the event where we push our welcome through some misunderstanding, the British and Canadian embassies help us out.

A very interesting read @El Presidente.

Especially having personally met some of the players involved in HAV ( the guy was arrested 2012 and spent almost 3 yrs in prison there ). I am sure our good man Toby could tell you more in person ( outside in the open air away from the walls with ears :-) ).

He was developing hotels and golf courses on the island and the gvt suddenly decided to reverse course on foreign investment.
He spent jail time with the Canadian Hyundai importer and some other famous foreigners, as well as a load of drug dealers and paedophiles.

Here is the some text on the guy and case and an excerpt from his book for you :

The very same one! I looked at about a dozen other spots, but that location is too perfect. I will be much better prepared for the noise this time around!!

I'm not leaving the island without that painting!! I've already got some "Gifts" lined up for Rob, so hopefully we can work something out!
