Popular Post El Presidente Posted August 14, 2017 Popular Post Posted August 14, 2017 I was looking at the Havanita Lounge Wine & Cigars , located in the heart of Marrakech. I sat back and sighed. When I started 21 years ago that is exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately laws here took away any chance of doing that in this country. Young children etal precluded me from doing it OS. But now, Phuket?, the US?, KLC? .......Havana? Ok not Havana...if successful they would close me down in a month and arrest me for money laundering Take a look and congrats in the execution of a great concept. 18
JamesKPolkEsq Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Singapore! Something's just so perfect about a state of the art Smoking Lounge there.
PigFish Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 ... I could stray into the political here once more, but I won't. While not this classy we once had a place like this, where I would smoke a cigar almost every Friday night when in the mortgage business. Technically located in 'county' space verses city space they got away with it for years. I held many a herf there. The last time a friend came to town (Brandon) I had to call the manager and he basically said if I buried our group (just 3 of us) in the far tables, and no one complained, and we did not expect service... we could come smoke at his establishment. It's an f'ing same! -Piggy 1
Smokin Joe Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 I was looking at various posts and news articles on Baranows in Melbourne. It looked like there was a point when Mr Baranow managed to establish an indoor cigar club around 2012 after the Australian smoking ban. It seemed like he had some success pushing back in council and state government on the basis his bar predated the ban. It's a pity that he appears to have thrown up his hands in frustration eventually. I have a sense we too meekly accept new laws here in Oz. Our associates in the UK, Europe and the US appear to have found some sensible middle ground with cigar bars certified adults can attend.Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk 4
Popular Post Fuzz Posted August 15, 2017 Popular Post Posted August 15, 2017 Yeah, well, I'm gonna build my own cigar lounge! With booze, and hookers! In fact, forget the cigar lounge!! 12
Duxnutz Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 It's a travesty that government overreach tramples ideas like this here in Oz. Climate is perfect for it. 2

JR Kipling Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Beautiful looking cigar lounge & bar. I looks perfect. What happened to us ? Why do we let petty bureaucrats & politicians rule our lives down to the last detail ? It's against 'the law' for me & other adults, to go to a cigar bar and smoke inside. No kids are inside. Non-smokers have plenty of places they can go. Some people just enjoy telling others how to live. Power junkies. And we put up with it.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro 2
Popular Post dominattorney Posted August 15, 2017 Popular Post Posted August 15, 2017 You also tug at my heart strings. I was the legal partner in a 3 man group that tried for 18 months to find a loop hole to open a lounge up in Colorado. Alas, we were slapped down by government hand wringing sissies. Death to tyrants, great and small. 5
oliverdst Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Does anybody smoke cigars in this Havanita Lounge? 1
JR Kipling Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 It's a travesty that government overreach tramples ideas like this here in Oz. Climate is perfect for it.Might be even more perfect where I live. Temperatures outside range from -8F to 103F (that's -22C to almost 40C for you metric guys). For much of the year, smoking outside takes real dedication. (Or a touch of insanity.)Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

Tobacco loses political power as fewer and fewer smoke one form or the other. 1
MrGlass Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 I always find it exciting to visit a cigar lounge when I travel just for the stupid thrill of being able to smoke inside. It saddens me to think this is something that can never exist in my own country. Honestly, I'm ok with some of the smoking restrictions they introduced in Australia. Moving it from right outside the door of a shopping centre isn't necessarily a bad thing. But there should be a middle ground instead of the take take take policy they have adopted. A venue should have the right to choose if smoking is allowed, just like people have the right to choose if they wish to visit, or pursue employment there. 2

There's an exception at the Casino down here so maybe there's hope. Let's hope big Joe is girding his loins for a scrap when he gets back from Washington. 1

Which lounge are you talking about? I like the Davidoff lounge at the Hilton during happy hour... Makes drinks almost affordable.
Toast & Taste Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 This place has the look and feel of what one would expect. I kept waiting for Hemingway to come walking in. Prices were steep, but it was worth it. https://www.facebook.com/pg/OldHavanaLounge/photos/?ref=page_internal I could certainly get behind something similar (i.e. invest in it) if the deal is right. The key component would be location, and that eliminates all of the convenient places. Would need to be able to offer CC's. In fact, a CC only joint might be preferable. Private clubs - they do exist... Big Al
BrightonCorgi Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Stanza Cigar bar in Boston's North End has a nice "olde time" cigar lounge feel. Best tourist location on top of that. A rare bird in today's America. http://www.stanzadeisigari.com/ 1

A couple of us in the Toronto area were seriously looking at the aspects of setting something like this up. A complete "private club". With the whole kit and caboodle set-up. The new by-laws and provincial regulations effed it all up. No go now, no matter what. My home garage has been almost fully converted now (wet bar, heating, ventilation, surround sound, rubber tile flooring, Cuban signage and such, etc.) I've had up to 6 in there smoking at once, with no issue. Could probably be comfy still with 10-12. However, I'd still be concerned with some wet blanket in the community finding a way to get me effed over on it, and somehow charged / fined.

Such a darn shame it eventually gave in however saying this, I can only imagine the constant stresses and angst "Trying to run a business" as well as deal with councils and the laws here. I loved it there.
