Weekend for us was all about my daughter Olivia's birthday party. She's my oldest and turning 4 on Wednesday. Went a bit overboard, but she's my princess so it's worth it! Everybody had a blast inc

Doing my best to maintain good spirits during a visit from my wife's best friend who is the closest thing I have to a classic mother in law. This photo is not sideways, I am actually being fired out o

I'm opening my cabin in the Catskills which has been closed all winter. My kids and grand-kids will all be here helping with the spring cleaning and I have a small selection of fine smokes.

Every spring in the Southeast, the pollen from the trees is horrendous. A fine, baby powder like pollen coats everything. If we don't get rain daily, is is like a disgusting dusting of snow. So, every year I have to power wash everything outdoors at my house. Today I did my screened-in porch, which is also my "smoking lounge." ?

Now, I have to wait a few days for everything to dry. But, since I finished this, I am enjoying a beer and a Quai d'Orsay Corona from '02.

I've spent my weekend pretty much sitting in this position and catching up on the weeks TV and a couple of films.

Many craft beers have been drank amongst a Cuaba Distinguidos, Siglo 2 and now just having my first Connie A.

For the ride home tonight from work is a HDM Des Dieux from 2003. Can't recall box code as they were gifted to me from a great BOTL. Was a very nice cigar. Busted the wrapper slightly with punch cutter but still drew great and had a wonderful woody, musky, sweet smoke. Very enjoyable and still could go another several years!

Bit of noisy woodworking. Ear defenders and a surprisingly spicey and fruity Quintero Favorito ROTT from a recent 24:24.

Then cut the grass, then sort out the pond, then fix the basin in the bathroom, then get the pork joint on for dinner, then... Oh I don't know... other stuff.

Saturday, first boat ride of the year with a Monti 4. Sunday will be Nascar, not sure what I'll smoke. I'll go down to the cellar and see which one jumps out at me.

This weekend I did absolutely nothing besides sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Had many cigars but the standout was the new Don Jose, what a treat! Sometimes the best weekends are those with no plans, just hearing the birds outside and contemplating life over fine habanos!post-6194-0-54253800-1461509018_thumb.jp

Can't forget the mojitos, too,

Our new patio furniture showed up yesterday and I was excited to put it out on the deck and get comfortable with a cigar. The wife says there's too much pollen in the air right now I don't want to put it outside yet. Me being the practical one says, but honey it's "outside furniture" it's supposed to be outside! She says it stays in the garage till the pollen calms down. I say okay looks like I'll be enjoying my cigar in the garage, which I did. She goes into the garage this morning and says the whole place smells like a giant ahstray. I say, yep, wouldn't smell that way had we put the furniture on the deck. As you can imagine, I'm not her favorite person right now.

A rare weekend with the house to myself. Off to the butcher for a "newport" steak and then straight to the deck for a nice cocktail and Mag 50. Spent the night nursing drinks, enjoying cigars, and watching my local bat population decimate all types of flying critters. Perfect weekend.
