Orion21 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Hello All. My wife and I are considering a trip to Mexico in either March or April. We are looking for a 5-Star all-inclusive experience. I know many of you have been, so I would love some input. What I have looked at ranges anywhere from $500-$1,000 per night range, which is fine with me. What would you recommend be my short list? As a disclaimer, I have not been to Mexico since I was a teenager. I am a novice when it comes to planning transport etc in this country, so would prefer a property that offers car service etc. Thanks ahead of time!
Puros Y Vino Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 The better resorts are above the $1500 / week range these days. Check the following out first. IMO they're the "gold standard" of resorts. They're adults only though. Massive properties and excellent food. Excellence Mayan Riviera. Excellence Playa Mujeres El Dorado Seaside Resort. El Dorado Royale Spa & Resort. We just came back from a resort in the Huatulco area. (Pacific side). Secrets Huatulco. Not as fancy as the above but by far the most affordable and most serene area. Golden sand vs the white sands of Cancun/Mayan Riviera. Food quality is just as good. Only a bit less variety. In regards to cigar smoking. All are good. The Excellence resorts have indoor lounges as well.
Orion21 Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 Thank you Frank. Excellence Playa Mujeres was at the top of a Business Insider Top 25, so I took a long look at it. It looks amazing to say the least. I will look at the others as well. Your insight is much appreciated!
Sok454 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Know anything about this one? We are planning a trip in November. Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun 1
tjohn7 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Secrets Maroma Beach and Secrets Akumal are excellent. Went to Maroma Beach for my honeymoon and just got back from Akumal. You can't go wrong with this resort chain. Decent food (nothing terrible, nothing excellent) but exceptional staff and service. My wife and I love the Secrets chain because the beaches are so much more secluded and never feel crowded. You also don't have to bother with the wrist bands and limited quantities of things you see at other all-inclusives. If you've got more questions, PM me. Tom
Diamondog Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Looking at the Valentin Imperial (Maya) in March myself...
