havanaclub Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Good stick. Just had another one after placing my order earlier in the day. I've been through one box of the OR and they've all been solid and, most importantly, no construction issues or ugly wrappers. Now that 50 cab of Punch DC that slipped into the shopping cart somehow made the order expensive I've been tempted to purchase the Romeo de luxe LCDH. Thanks for the input. Chuckmejia Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Not much flavor coming from them as they're young theyre rough ... I have two boxes that I have no desire to revisit for a really long time id take mag 50s over these anyday or even a box of short churchills for less
Popular Post Fugu Posted July 27, 2017 Popular Post Posted July 27, 2017 I way prefer the "original". If you like the wider format - well, go for it. I'll take the more refined CdL1 and 2 any day over this one. And they are cheaper, too. Those cigars - very unfortunately and despite their "luxury" name and appearance - have always had the ill repute of 'low-enders', cigars for beginners (thanks to some cigar publications - can't help but think one copying from the other, very similar as for ERDM). Not - true! And even if it were so, what's so wrong about it? A "beginner" cigar may likewise please the novice just as the experienced smoker. May be the lack of appreciation today is due to their relative mildness and lack of an in-your-face experience, may be also due to their confection and make-up, with their extra "advertising" perhaps appearing cheap per today's standards (problem perhaps - there are or has indeed been a range of lower-end cigars, often machine-made, coming/having come in cedro as well, such as the formerly machine-made Coronitas en Cedro, Los Statos Selectos, Party LeC, PL Lolas or the LFdC PC to mention a few). I am not bashing this new release, nothing wrong as an addition, for those who prefer the format and the bigger smoke volume (in which case it had better been put up in the regular series, so that that had gotten a bit of revived attention, too). But what I actually have a hard time accepting is its replacing the original series. And that is what is happening here. Of course, rolling a Cervantes or Coronas demands more diligence and skill than rolling a Robo Extra. So this might be an aspect coming into play here as well, with Tabacuba appearing to be running out of skilled rollers again (seems history is repeating itself...). If there weren't the notorious construction issues (though I haven't had a truly difficult one in this series in years), and perhaps also if smokers were still knowing how to properly enjoy a stiffer-drawing Lonsdale, then we would not see their demise. This again is a prime example where we observe the unabashed shift - they even didn't bother to 1:1 copy the name - from classic, emblematic Cuban formats (the CdL1 has already been announced for cut, the No. 2 will soon follow I bet) towards high-calibre "exclusive release"-steamers. Makes me wonder how many buyers of this LCDH-release have actually tried a glorious No.1 before trying out this one... It's a shame the hole is being dug deeper and deeper into which great Cuban cigar history is disappearing quickly. Sorry for the rant. Please, don't roll your eyes. Bear with me, but I won't refrain from voicing my feelings in this regard. 5
Lotusguy Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 I mostly bought them at first release because almost all the previous LCDH exclusives have been winners for me (notable exception being the Upmann Noellas jar but I've ranted about those enough). 1
