The Skin Trade – a werewolf novella by George R.R. Martin – has been picked up for the TV treatment by Cinemax…
Fans of George R.R. Martin, rejoice! As well as Game Of Thrones, we’ll now be getting another TV show based on his work.
This is thanks to Cinemax (a sibling network to HBO, makers of Game Of Thrones), which has picked up the rights to his werewolf novella The Skin Trade.
If you’re unfamiliar with it, this one’s all about a private investigator called Randi Wade. Randi is investigating a serial killer who has been skinning their victims. When her friend Willie Flambeaux becomes a target, she’s drawn into a dark and supernatural underworld.
“I have always thought there was a TV series (or maybe a feature film) in Willie Flambeaux and Randi Wade,” Martin told his blog-readers. “Those of you who know the story of Doorways, my ill-fated ABC pilot from the early 90s, may even recall that it was Skin Trade that I was actually trying to sell back in 1991, when I flew out to LA for a round of pitch meetings. So we’re a few decades late…”
Regardless of tardiness, The Skin Trade is definitely in production as a telly show now. Kalinda Vazquez – of Once Upon A Time and Prison Break vintage – is working on adapting the text into script format. Mr Martin is on board as a producer.
More news as it happens.
