Top 5 Cigars of The Year

Recommended Posts

As we finish the year, I thought it would interesting to look back and ask what were everyone's best smokes of the year? two categories would probably work best. One for the best regular production cigar with no earlier than a 2012 code, and then another for a cigar of any age and or special edition.

For me the Churchills were the stand out all year long.

1 H Upmann Sir Winston 2014

2 Cohiba Esplendido 2014

3 Bolivar Corona Gigantes 2014

4 JL2 2013

5 Partagas E2

Honorable mention 2013 Monte Especiales, 2013 Punch Punch, 2014 Wide Churchill

Special Production

1 Edmundo Dantes 54

2 Por Larranaga RDL UK RE

3 Alemania Bolivar especiales no 2

4 Ramon Allones Superiores

5 Monsdale

Honorable mention Punch LE 2013, PL sober Aliens (still just to young these will be great though)

Leo,

I totally agree with the Sir Winnie as king. I'm an Upmann fan, so I've got Connie A in the top 5 too, but those Winnies have been superb! Some of the best boxes I've seen!

Have a happy holidays, my man!

Tom

Last year I've found the remains of a box from 2007 in the south west of France, they were delicious. Not sure if I'd put it in my top10 but it's definitly a nice different cigar…

I've had the 06 panatelas and they were quite good but again not the best I had this year.

It is of course all a matter of taste, and I'm a firm fan of the QdO flavor profile - medium strong, spicy taste. Def different from most marcas.

Recently I've put my hands on a good source of these and I found that the Panatella (which is actually a Ninfa size; go figure) such a great concentrated tasteful cigar. Lovely to start the day off with.

To honor 'La Furia Francese' - Degustibus non est disputandum.

Edited to add - I am not a professional cigar critic and of course my personal experience is/should in no way, shape or form (be) leading for or unduly influence the opinion of others. Let me state this again; I know nothing about cigars :)

Mostly, I am a fortunate aficionado who, predominantly through dumb luck and the efforts of others, is able to smoke a variety of what I personally consider fantastic cigars.

I try to share where I can and encourage others to form their own opinion, because in the end, your own taste is all that should matter to you.

What I think is not relevant.
