Skyfall Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Continuing on with the 2013 thread. Now that 2014 is halfway over, what's the best whiskey you've had so far in 2014??? 1
ElJefe Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Really loving the Ardbeg 10. Haven't tried the Uiegedail or any of the other Ardbeg Day special releases , but this has fast become my go to. Slightly Salty, reminiscent of the ocean and a smoky sweetness to balance it all out. A lovely Dram indeed . Pairs well with Cuban cigars, the Siglo II I had last nite was just sublime with a few drams of this. 2
TM-US Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Bruichladdich Black Art 3. Amazingly complex flavors unusual reddish/purple color due to wine cask aging. You need to be in the mood for it.
Trevor2118 Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Laphroaig Triple Wood..........I'm a Laphroaig fan. It's a 48% strength, matured in ex-bourbon barrels, then in Quarter Casks, and finished in large European Oak casks (thus the triple wood). It's a perfect assault on the mouth. 3
shlomo Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Have had some great ones this year from Aberlour Abunadh batch 39 and 46, Lagavulin double matured, Glenfiddich cask of dreams....all delicious. Homemade bourbon beat them all. Not made in my home, but in a very generous BOTL's. 1
StingMeadery Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Has to be either 33 year old Duncan Taylors Bunnahabhain The Octave, or an Adelphi Mortlach 25...and these were all in the last week Although Ardbeg Lord of the Isles was pretty tasty too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
TypicalSituation Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Laphroaig Triple Wood..........I'm a Laphroaig fan. We don't have many choices in my neck of the woods, so when I saw this I jumped on it. What a marvelous, marvelous flavor profile.
Newkarian Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Was very surprised by a bottle of Wild Turkey Forgiven. Dont know if the back story is true but the rye and bourbon come together very nicely. If I could find a bottle of Stagg would be that. The bottles I had before it was "discovered" still haunt me.
Rye Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I'll second the vote for the 'Laddie Black Arts 3.1 I wasn't a fan of the Canadian cask of dreams, but the Octomore Comus still beckons me for another night to make this list. There's a long and delicious road ahead of us friends! 1
fokker4me Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I think it has to be a toss up of William LaRue Weller, 2013 Small Batch Limited Four Roses 125th or Glenfiddich Snow Pheonix.
winelover Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Continuing on with the 2013 thread. Now that 2014 is halfway over, what's the best whiskey you've had so far in 2014??? good call. best so far for me is the glenlivet nadurra 0512T which is a complex cask strength vanilla bomb (best after bottle half way down) that said plenty more whiskies to get through yet g
lipher Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 good call. best so far for me is the glenlivet nadurra 0512T which is a complex cask strength vanilla bomb (best after bottle half way down) that said plenty more whiskies to get through yet g Nadurra is a go to favorite of mine. The 1991 triumph is amazing too
... Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Johnny Walker Black is a staple of mine but I enjoy sampling a bit of Bowmore 25' when I feel I am especially deserving
Maplepie Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Johnny Walker Black is a staple of mine but I enjoy sampling a bit of Bowmore 25' when I feel I am especially deserving oh my godd. that must be one of the biggest jumps I've ever seen!good show! I've often seen Port Ellen at the prices of Bowmore 25 in restaurants before. Sent from my Q10 using Tapatalk
fokker4me Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Without a doubt had to be the Four Roses 2014 Limited Edition Single Barrel. I wish more was available as I would buy as much as I could find. It is extreamly Creamy, milk chocolate, Viscous and lightly floral. This is one with a rare yeast strain that does not get used much and bottled at barrel proof. If you see this on shelves and you enjoy Bourbon, buy it. You will not be dissatisfied.
Duxnutz Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Got a lead on any Fokker? I've searched high and low in Cali but no joy. Best of for 2014 (so far) High West Rendesvous Rye absolutely gorgeous stuff.
Louich Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I fell in love with the Bruichladdich Links Vahalla (I am a laddie *****). The Gordon and Macphail Highland park cask strenght struck a cord also. The Comus was a very suprising compared to the other Octomore. Guess I'll have to open that black art 3.1 that is staring at me Rye. ;-)
Njt300 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Breckenridge Bourbon Whiskey Special Release and Most Righteous Bourbon for the Catskill Distilling Company
