Lol. Yeah, I had a Groupon for a Seaside resort, but it was not as tranquil as it was advertised! Not going to get a favorable Yelp review.

I will say this, Staff was 5 Red Stars! However, although very attentive, only spoke Russian.

Damn! Have not been up to NYC in a bit but going up there this summer for a few weeks. Was hoping to stroll the park and smoke a few cigars. That is crazy that they fine you now. There was always a ton of people smoking pot back in the day and they did not hassle them.

I was on NYC last year and I've had "smoke a cigar in Central Park" in my bucket list for ages.

When I got there and found it was non smoking I just said "F&$k it" and lit up anyway. A really decent NC Double Corona for my afternoon walk.

I kept away from most people and if I took a seat I always made sure there weren't people too close or down wind of me. I got about halfway through my cigar when a rent a cop comes up to me and explains the park is no smoking. I explain that I'm an Aussie and didn't see any no smoking signs anywhere (which I didn't). He writes me a fine for $120 (I think) and walks off I keep smoking my cigar anyway. He gets about 7 steps from me and turns around and says "if you don't put that out and I see you again it's gonna be another fine" I shrug my shoulders "this stick just cost me $120, you'd better believe I'm gonna finish it!" And walked off.

Didn't see that guy again for the rest of the afternoon and had a wonderful time in the park.

I even paid the fine. Totally worth it!

Hawaii in general is not very cigar-friendly to the point of smoking banned on State beaches, anywhere indoors, and even hotel balconies pod.gif

I didn't know that. I smoked one in Maui in the main pathway along the beach that links all the resorts together. No one complained or even said boo. Several old guys have me a look that said "wish I had one too" but that's about it.

Course that was five years ago now.

San Francisco - lovely tourist spot, but the attitude is almost as bad as NYC, light up and if the cops don't harass you, the other tourists and locals will shame you into submission. Bleah. And just try to find something islandish to smoke there? Fuggedaboudit!

Ditto on San Francisco. The Bay Area is generally speaking rather hostile to cigars, yet almost disturbingly tolerant of marijuana. Once some aspiring local tough guy even threatened to fight us when we ignored his demands to put out our cigars.

Vancouver is also particularly hostile to cigars or so I've been told by some friends.

This, hands down.

Not to mention the Customs police at the airport - it's one of 2 places I've been (the other being NYC) where they actually x-ray your bags coming INTO the country for contriband... horrible.

They're only looking for fruit/vegetables and meat. I've had several boxes of Cuban cigars in my carry on when it was scanned and not a word...

Agreed on the other points, though.

Where do they ban smoking on the beach? I haven't followed the laws there in a long time. And just a FYI, every beach in Hawaii is public/state beaches.

In 2008, Hawai’i County would once again be on the forefront of anti-smoking legislation when the Big Island banned smoking and tobacco use at all County beaches, parks, and recreational facilities. In 2010, Hawai’i County expanded its protections against second–hand smoke when it passed legislation prohibiting smoking in any motor vehicle occupied by a minor.

With enthusiasm for health and the environment, on July 21, 2013, Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell signed two laws that prohibit smoking on all Honolulu City and County owned or operated beaches, parks, and public bus stops. These changes will take effect incrementally with full enforcement by January 1, 2014. Previously passed smoke-free beach laws are already in effect, including Hanauma Bay, Ala Moana Beach Park (sandy areas), Duke Paoa Kahanamoku Beach Park, Kapi`olani Beach and Park/Center, Kuhio Beach Park, and Sandy Beach Park. In 2008, the Hawai`i County (Big Island) passed the State’s only other smoke-free beaches law.

Guess not everywhere, yet.....

Gravity is a *****! Lol

The last time I went to the moon for a little getaway, I had horrible combustion and draw issues! Very uneven burns. Couldn't find a decent shop either!

This is easy. Cruise boats! I think Rennaissance cruises had absolute no smoking policies (now defunct I think), but Oceana is pretty bad.
