Ginseng Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Yep, This the holiday season. Time for buying presents, being with family...and credit card fraud. One of my cards got hit for almost a grand. I suppose even crooks want a merry Christmas. But not on my dime. So check your cards if haven't done so recently. Anomalous transactions large and small are looking to sneak by. Be vigilant, people. Wilkey
Zigatoh Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 £250 for me two weeks ago, got sorted in 5 working days so all good, I check all of my accounts nearly every day.
fokker4me Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 That's a great post I should check more then I do.
Louich Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Damn. I just looked up my account and a bastard just ordered cigars ! ;-)
Rye Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Damn. I just looked up my account and a bastard just ordered cigars ! ;-) Hahahaha! Me too!!
warren516 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 My card got hit with software purchases, western union, and some others up to a grand Lucky for me the card was declined on each purchase which is the good news. The bad news is that I don't have an ATM card now and won't until after I get back from christmas holiday.
Ginseng Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Lucky for me the card was declined on each purchase which is the good news. Same here. Thank goodness for their instantaneous, always-on vigilance. Wilkey
Dimmers Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Good thread! I try to curtail as much risk as possible (online transactions only via a particualr card with a low limit, and I also dont let my card out of sight when paying for something in person). But its going to happen to all of us at some point.
Homebrew Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 My card got hit. Lucky for me the card was declined on each purchase which is the good news. Myself as well, And it was the card I use for international purchases. So I can't order any cigars, until after the Holidays. Bummed Out Dave (A.K.A. Homebrew)

Needless to say I changed my walmart account password and called them and my credit card......what a bad couple of days for me.

I was hoping you were going to say that showed up and confronted the person. Sorry to hear this man.
cigcars Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Thank you for the warning, Wilkey. But if thieves were to hack into MY bank acct. all I'd find later on would be a sympathy note and a $50 deposit.
GernBlansten Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 For you folks in the US: Target stores hit with a CC attack
Newkarian Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Just noticed this am that a local retailer tried to scam me for a $1500 charge on my cc. Quite a bold move but my card company is taking care of it. Was clued into it because my card was declined when the lovely Diana tried to process my order from the 12 days sale. Good thing I bought from the czar. See guys cigars save your butt dont listen to what anyone else tells you lol.
HabanoHam Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 For you folks in the US: Target stores hit with a CC attack This news has me a bit nervous. Just purchased a few Xbox games as gifts there in mid November. I'll be checking my online banking activity every 4 hours!
celtmick1984 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Had to close an account last night and there may be another one that we're going to have to change. I think I'm going to take Randy Moss' advice: straight cash homey.
GernBlansten Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 I think I'm going to take Randy Moss' advice...... Play when you want to? Run over the meter maid to get out of a parking ticket? My personal favorite, use the old "that's not MY bag of weed!" defense? Ahhhh, there are so many gems he has put out there. BTW, sorry about your accounts. Changing all that is just no fun.
AlohaStyle Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Here's a good one... just pulled up a credit card account I never use as my "annual fee" was due and I needed to call to get it taken off. Just so happens someone used my card at a wig and toupee shop in California. Hhhmmm, the lady needs her weave! LOL I'm just damn lucky this didn't happen months ago as I don't know if I would've caught it, lesson learned.
