Nino Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Andreas and I smoked this Dominican cigar or rather : luxury product, yesterday before the suckling pig dinner at the golf course. It's a Bossner Ambassador gifted to us last week and it comes in a tube adorned with enough gold lettering to have bankrupted the gold reserves of Burkina Faso. Same applies for the band. We guessed that some people truly don't smoke cigars, they smoke bands, and gold, or better yet : gold bands. We've never seen quite such a "modest" packaging for a cigar. Most understated. The cigar is Reserva of course, and not only that but Limited Edition as well, and don't forget it's XO, whatever that means. Bling Bling titles. The cigar tasted of sunflower seeds in cold draw - funny, but that was my first and most lasting impression of it. After firing it up it was hot dry hay all the way to the finish. Extremely light, mild, no ups, no downs, no hills, no valleys, just a totally flat line from start to finish. Completely boring and lacking any expression whatsoever. Sleeping feet have more life in them. Maybe the packaging is expression enough - I mean, why care about cigars when you can place this golden dildo on a table. A conversation piece - not a smoking piece. Nino
garbandz Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Typical advertising B.S.....if you cannot make a good cigar, make flashy packaging. This looks like an attempt by marketing drones to catch your imagination, another example of spending all the budget on the flash and not enough on the cigar. Wait and see, some no-palate Bloginstein will rave over this...........
finecigar Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I can't stand this crap. Gurkha is an example of this over embellishing of labels and packaging. One thing I love about Habanos is the simplicity and consistent to history of brands and how/where they came from. The labels don't change much. The simpler, more humble yet aesthetically pleasing, the better. It's about the quality and contents of the cigar not the label!
laficion Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I don't like the very flashy bands, now that said ,Why the non-cuban ,put so much in their packageing ? May-be It's because their Is nothing in their cigars ,It's just that simple .
Habana Mike Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 You sure it's not just your unrefined palate, Nino?
Nino Posted September 15, 2013 Author Posted September 15, 2013 Macho A Heno Lost in translation Lisa .... say again ?? You sure it's not just your unrefined palate, Nino? Nope, you missed the part where I tasted sunflower seeds ..... the only memorable thing in that stick ............
canadianbeaver Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Just being funny... Switching the letters around to make macho ... The way you look when smoking one of these bling stix

canadianbeaver Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Packaging is vital because cigars in the US are bought at retail to a much broader audience and price point.
Andy04 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Padron is the only decent NC that gets their band and packaging correct.
backslide Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Padron is the only decent NC that gets their band and packaging correct. Add Illusione to that short list.
ToroRph Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Curivari has awesome bands because they are virtual copies of the cc they are attempting to mimic. 1
