ballophun Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Friends of Habanos, welcome, welcome. Step right up! It’s my birthday, I’ve just eaten half a Stilnox/Ambien, I’m listening to Art Blakey on headphones and I’m in the mood to write a little something something about the Hoyo De Monterrey Du Prince. Live. So come with me, if you will, on an awkward journey through cigars and music and why I should have gone to bed a long time ago. First third poured down very well… Peppery sparks flew here and there but nothing the mids couldn’t sort out. The mids were, mind you, quite something; dried fruit; smoked almonds; herbs and spices that weren’t too peppery but I’m not too awesome to be able to pick each flavour out. Whatever. Don’t hate the player, hate the... Syrian government... ****ed up hey. Came to the middle and realized how difficult it is to write a review, particularly on sleeping tablets. I should have just sent my friends abusive texts and painted various walls in my home. Anyway… Cigar - almond finger cake. I’ve got ridiculous lemon meringue flavours. I’ve got an amazing sax solo… sorry that was Lou Donaldson. Art Blakey kicks it. This is all mild… I’ve inhaled quite a bit of the smoke. Theres no viscious effect on the back of the throat like the Por Larranaga Petit Corona I smoked the other day. That thing bit my throat first chance she got. This thing actually welcomes inhalation. I’m trying not to, but draw a tiny tiny bit as she lets me. Because let’s face it. As soon as I take a proper draw, I will never smoke a cigar again… The last third, more of the same. A bit more trumpet. Some more baritone clarinet than I was expecting. Here it goes... .... ... DRUM SOLO!!! Sweet. Sweet flavours. Brown sugar. Not the song. The flavor you idiots. Tidied up a bit. I was waiting for a change and here it is with the drum solo. Pinch of pepper. Handful of cream. Sounds like the ingredients for a nightmare but faaaaaaaaaarrrrk. There’s a tiny pinch of gasoline in these girls I cant ignore. I find it in all cigars and its here but in a much smaller dose in this devotchka. The almond fingers are still going strong. Wet grass all the way through until the end. The end has been quite lovely actually. This is where Art Blakey really shines. 91 Here I am keeping an eye out for what sounded like a bat fighting a possum on a ride on lawn mower. Or it could have just been a bat. I'll just keep an eye out until dawn. .
Hohenthal Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Nice and a little different review! Enjoy the rest of your birthday, AND tomorrow's hangover (Iknow I will ) Cheers, Alex
ToroRph Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Glad you use Ambien more judiciously than Tiger Woods. Great review. Hope you remember it. Cheers to you
