Scdalak Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 With weather cooperating wife and spent day with cousins for the early Spring 2012 opening of the best “Hanging Meat Pit” going. Yesterday’s selection was seasoned Pork Chops and Pork Kabobs. A different dimension of grilling meat. Succulent , juicy , superb!! Washed it down with some Crazy tequila my cousin had in a gimmick machine gun and pistol bottle. Pretty funny Stuff. Cigar of the day was a stellar 2010 R & J Short Churchill. Was a great day all around. Enjoy.. Let the Prep Begin... Just Warming up.. Some Salted Cured Meats as appetizers Let the Games begin. Cooked to Perfection. Ready to Eat. The Marca everyone Loves to hate... Guess I liked it. Ummmm, Stick'em Up??
Habanos2000 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 that looked like a blast! Any idea of what the temp in the pit is? What do you use, wood or coal?
Scdalak Posted March 12, 2012 Author Posted March 12, 2012 that looked like a blast! Any idea of what the temp in the pit is? What do you use, wood or coal? The walls of the pit are stacked with Ceramic Heat Bricks, not sure of temp, but I know it takes almost 2 full hours for the bricks to heat up. They start it with Wood and actually feed air into the pit with a hand held leaf blower via a 4" wide Conduit that is connected (off Camera) It will take a full 24+ Hours to cool down.
canadianbeaver Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 OMG I just sent this thread to Matthew. He would love it at our cottage!!! We would cook in it all the time. This make bar-b-q-ing seem like fairyland! Thanks for showing it to me.

They hang everything from Steak, Groud Beef Kabobs, Ground Seasoned Beef on Dough, (Like medditeranian pizzas, they have special attachement for that) All sorts of Veggies etc. Its as much a social event as anything. Life is good on the day they fire this up.
MrGlass Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 That reminds me of when I went to Churrasco in Guam, by far the tastiest night I had on that trip. I need to remember that this setup is possible when I get a house.
Lotusguy Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Mhmm - will I need a permit to dig such a pit in my backyard??? on the pics!
