898 vs Lusitanias

For me the 898v is a strong powerhouse, lots of toasty tobacco and parti spice. The Lusi is rich and buttery but very mild in comparison.

The lusitania at times is like a vanilla milk shake and a gingersnap, while the 898 is more a coffee gingerbread cigar. I like both, but almost never have time to really enjoy the lusitania since it is a 3 hour smoke, while the 898 can be an hour and a half to two hours. The cervantes is such a perfect vitola, if only they would have it for other marcas.

Three hours to smoke a Lusi? Geez... I must be a fast smoker. No more than 2 hours max for any I've smoked. Never had an 898, though.

The Partagas 898 is a dalia (43x170).

No comparison totally different smokes. I am no longer a fan of lusis just don't like the profile much so 898s by a long shot.

How does the 898 profile compare to a PSP2? I've only had those and the Lusis. Now I feel the need to try the 898s. As if I needed another excuse to buy more cigars. LOL

^you're missing out, psd4, p1, 898 and shorts are the best of the lineup.

Partagas is overall my favorite marca, and the 898V is my favorite vitola. I've got cabs of aged Lusi's, but I probably smoke a dozen 898's for every Lusi.

If you like the Partagas profile, then the 898v, P2, D4, and Short are all must tries for sure (and all box-worthy for me).

I've never had a Lusi, so I'm no help there, sorry!

Depends on my mood but the 898 V is a 10:1 consumption stick as opposed to the Lusi. I would love to have more time to smoke a Lusi as over the past 2 years there have been some crackers. However the Dalia is my preferred format, the 898 V consistently delivers the medium full richness I crave at some point in the day.

Thanks for all the insights...I've only had the PSD4 before and really love those smokes so wanted to try some more from partagas. On another note, I just smoked my first Reyes a few mins ago and was fantastic - so glad to have a box to enjoy. The second half of that smoke tasted like chocolate - wow!

I'm a big fan of the Lusi, so it has my vote. Lovely creamy medium bodied smoke, with enough complexity for a 2 1/2 to 3 hr smoke.

The 898V is also excellent, as you can see from the great support it has on this forum. A more full bodied smoke than the Lusi: can be quite a powerhouse.

Get a 10ct box of each. They are both classics and each serve their own purpose depending on circumstance.

Never had 888 so that is something I'm going to change soon but I have had the lusi.

I love both but each of them for different reasons and for different times as has been pointed out by others. Wish I can have more time to smoke the Lusitanias though!
