Switzerland and cigars

Hi,

As part of my new job I will be spending some time every month in Switzerland, Mainly Zurich and Geneva.

Are there any BOTL here that can tell me where it is permitted to smoke nowadays?

The lists I found scouring the net seem to date back to 2008 and we live in interesting times so I am not sure they are up to date.

Also , Don't mind meeting up and sharing a smoke after working hours...

I do know that Intertabak AG is the distribution company for Switzerland and I believe Germany too, and I'm sure if they're contacted they can advise you on any cigar/smoking related questions while you're there. Have fun and enjoy while you're up there!

Quick correction: The exclusive importer for Germany is 5th Avenue (www.5thavenue.de), not Intertabak.

I haven't been to Zurich since 2002. I was in Geneva in 2008 for a cigar trip/birthday present from my long suffering wife. At the time (Oct 2008) there was smoking allowed just about everywhere, bars, restaurants, cigar shops etc. There had been a smoking ban in Geneva Canton but it was overturned earlier that year because it conflicted with some Swiss federal law. I know since then a new smoking ban is in place with more careful wording.

The LCDH in Geneva at the time had just installed a smoking/sampling room upstairs, can't tell you I'm afraid if cigar smoking is still allowed there.

The old town in Zurich is very nice, the area around Rue Du Marché in Geneva is also very nice and where most of the cigar shops are located. Both areas were well set up with heated outside areas, outside bars/restaurants etc.
