Saturday night, quite chilly, around low 50's and out on the back porch. Just recieved this box two weeks ago and this is the first cigar i have had from it and actually my first royal corona at all. i dry boxed it all dayyesterday hoping to smoke it last night but got tied up so it has be out more than I like.

Cigar at cold is all leather not getting any sweetness, just leather. Draw is super loose but I dont mind because the last 10 ccs ive smoked, I have had to fight with crazy tight draws. Im thinking i might have dried it out a bit to muc but it gives a good squeezes with no cracking so it might be good. Didnt get this box from czars but in opinion its a PE maybe HQ box, all the cigars seems to have flawless construction and great smell to the newly opened box

First third: Ash is really solid and seems to hold on fine at 2" in. Im not really picking anything up but the leather and some grassiness. Tiny bit of spice through the nose. Loose draw making it smoke up really fast but burn is razor sharp

Second third: Losing the heavy leather and getting some good espresso and maybe dark chocolate notes. Was really expecting some good spice like the BGM I smoke earlier in the week that kicked me in the head, but this RC is just lacking. Has really stayed on the light/medium side

Final Third: Not much change from the second third to the end, I have smoked alot of boli's but I have always been under the impression that these were fuller bodied smokes. This one is mild to the core, good flavors just no strength ( maybe thats what I get for not getting them LFTH)

Final score: (88) Becuase of the burn and good construction alone, I cant give it less. for such a young cigar there was no bitterness

Coming tommorrow is a mag 46 review from a three pack from czars (just lost my Colibri leather case :tantrum: so I really want the one Prez is offering up)

I have a box of these in tubos (Box Code: LRE Jul 09) It's actually one of my favorite CC. Never had a bad one yet!

Yup, I have a box of 2010's that are fabulous now! I'm waiting for them to get sick on me. I love the BRC.

In my experience, the royal is one of the milder Bolivar.

Leathery flavour is a good description.

For me,a really good medium strength cigar.

Nice review. I had an RC a few months ago that was "off," and it was a lot like you're describing here. It wasn't bad, there just wasn't much to it. But it's the first one I've had that was off. Maybe it's the age of these? June '11 is really young.

Though I'd call these the mildest of the Bolivars, imvho, I still wouldn't call them mild. Medium with plenty of flavor for me.

thx for the review, damn you cut a lot of that off the top :P

Yeah it looks like it but I think the bang slid up on the stick, it was loose and I don't remember really clipping much past the contour of th cap

I'm a RC fan as well. When you find a good one they can take you on a real flavor trip, I remember quite a few that were so good with so many rich flavors that I smoked them until my finger tips burned. Others were just "OK". But I do try to keep a box on hand looking for that great one that I know is out there somewhere.
