  1. I checked through several of my boxes, and all of the bands have a straight cut.
  2. I am heading to Cuba next month, and am wondering if anyone has brought back any cigars and or rum? Just trying to see if US Customs is enforcing that new law.
  3. Great topic! I just received my Raching humidors, and found the trays to be made of Canada cedar. I assumed them to be Spanish cedar, as the website never mentions Canada cedar as the standard tray. The sales person said Spanish cedar trays are a $200 upgrade. I was never given the option. Anyway, I would love to hear if CC is safe for my cigars. Luckily, the lining of the cabinets are Spanish cedar.
  4. I too live in the south east. I replaced my wimpy bathroom exhaust fan with a more powerful one. Add a nice comfortable camping chair, and bamm, instant cigar lounge.
  5. That's disappointing. I put away a few boxes, but haven't tried one yet. I wonder if a draw tool would have helped?
  6. My friend and I walked in to the Hotel Riviera, and right into Juanita's birthday celebration. She is such a gracious person, that she offered us cake. Before long, she opened up a bottle of rum, and started dancing. What a great memory!
  8. Well, it looks like the US has restricted international travel.
  9. When you left Cuba, is the airport security the same, or are they implementing any different screening measures? Same for US Customs. Thanks!
  10. I agree, Arturo is a great friend, and makes everything possible. He has been my driver for the last 8 trips. I'd also like to mention, he is traveling to Spain in April, and will be there for 3 months.
  11. The last few times I went through Ft. Lauderdale, my bags were sent to secondary inspections. If you declare over $800 or more on the APC machine, you will be sent to secondary inspection, where they will x-ray everything you have. BE honest, and hopefully they will just charge you a small duty fee. I've been keeping my count around 200-250, and have had no problems. I also brought back 8 bottles of rum, which they taxed me $28. They let the cigars go un-taxed, but warn you the next time just bring back 50. There is no rhyme or reason with CBP, so just be honest, and don't be too greedy. Cheers!
  12. That's good to hear. Is it 1:1 at the cadecas, or on the street?
  13. I've had some close calls at US Customs, but nothing like your experience. Can I ask where this happened?
  14. I just spoke to my friend, Arturo, who lives in Havana, and he said things are crazy there. No fuel, plus blackouts at night. The president said there should be some relief in a few weeks.
  15. I just returned from Havana last Tuesday the 10th, and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. It could have just started.
