  1. I think Cardinals playing at home over the 49ers is pretty certain at this point (and I'm a 49ers fan!).
  2. Very interesting stuff! I always assumed plume exists but now not so sure. It'll be very interesting if it can be found.
  3. I just watched an obscure British horror film from 1945 called "Dead of Night." I'd recorded it off TCM back around Halloween but just got around to watching it. I wasn't expecting much since I didn't know anything about the film, but it was very well done pretty darn creepy! And a bit ahead of it's time, I'd say (you could say it might have inspired the classic EC Horror Comics of the 1950s and even The Twilight Zone TV show). While certainly tame by today's horror fare, if you enjoy old horror films (especially British horror films) then this really is a must see.
  4. I probably don't smoke enough CC's these days to speak with much authority on the topic, but my experience over the 20+ years I've been enjoying Cuban cigars is that SLR Regios smoke better fresh than aged. :-)
  5. Cool story! So I'm a little out of touch with what's going on with Hamlet. I know he left Cuba and had partnered with Rocky Patel to make cigars. Is there a Hamlet cigar out there now that's for sale? I know I can Google it, but just wondering if anybody has tried it and how it is?
  6. He's an exciting player to watch! I think he can definitely contribute to the 49ers this year. Fun story!
  7. We shall see! They looked OK tonight. I know, it's just one game, but I had money on Minnesota to take this one easily. I know the Vikings aren't Seattle or Arizona (or even the Rams) but many experts have said they will be a breakout team this year. Either way, the Niners do not appear to be as bad as many were expecting.
  8. The 49ers play tonight and I have no idea what to expect. It's like we have almost an entirely new team. I don't expect them to be great, but whether they are decent or a complete train wreck this season, I have no idea. Oh, and I called the Buffalo win over Indy and the Rams over Seattle. I think the Rams may be one of the most underrated teams in the NFL going into this season. And Indy will be OK but a dome team playing in Buffalo on the first game of the season is never a good bet, I don't care how good they are.
  9. I'm in! If I can ever finish better than middle of the pack in this thing, it'd be quite an accomplishment.
  10. This for sure. It's pretty much what I do in Vegas these days (though I don't get there too often anymore).
  11. I guess with the Redback and Funnel Web spiders around, all you Aussies don't flinch when you come across a giant Hunstman spider. Right? I mean, the Huntsman is huge and scary but harmless (although I might jump out a window or something if I came across a Huntsman so maybe not completely harmless).
  12. Definitely! Rocky may have a secret weapon in his arsenal now. I haven't smoked a Rocky Patel cigar in many years but I look forward to seeing what they end up doing. And best of luck to Hamlet on this new phase of his life!
  13. Weak NFC West? Are you kidding? The Cardinals had a great year in 2014 and that team was devastated by injuries all season at key positions (QB, RB, Defense). Watch out for them. And the 49ers can't be written off (yet). And the Rams were definitely an up-and-coming team last year. If they can get a QB they will be tough. NFC West is still one of the toughest divisions in the NFL.
  14. I think Seattle wins it all again. And as a 49ers fan it pains me to say that. But I don't know if there's a team out there who can really handle Seattle's defense over four quarters. And with the home field advantage Seattle has, I give the other NFC teams a very small chance of beating them in their house. And I give the AFC teams even less of chance but at least they won't have to play Seattle in Seattle. Now watch Carolina end up winning this game tonight. :-)
  15. I know, it really sucks we don't have access to those coveted North Korean cigars! Rob, when are you going to start carrying those?
  16. Thank you for the heads up on this. I will order it!
  17. How can something like this be done without it being a Democrats vs. Republicans fight? If the Republicans are going to be against it forever but the majority of the country wants to see normalized relations with Cuba and a lifting of the embargo then any progress is going to be made at the expense of the Republicans. Maybe they should get on board with it and not worry about those Florida votes. Honestly, is the anti-Castro Cuban influence in Florida still that powerful and influential?
  18. I like 'em! They are still somewhat hard to get (at least from my local shops) so it's always kind of fun when they get some in as they still have that "special" connotation to me. I've had a few duds over the years but mostly I've enjoyed them both fresh and aged. I always try to keep a few in my humidor to have as an occasional cigar. I agree though that the price is pretty ridiculous, but that can be said for many NC "ultra-premium" cigars, which can run $20 per cigar and up. I think the OpusX is the only premium NC I'd actually pay that kind of money for, although I would never buy a whole box. I just pick up a few singles when I can and maybe smoke 2-3 per year.
  19. Personally, I like the grading system as it one of the things that sets FOH/Czar apart from other online vendors. But if you want to do away with it so you don't have to deal with people who critique the practice and the extra work it takes you I would totally understand. Maybe it's something you do less frequently for really only special sales or something?
  20. I did smoke one. It wasn't bad, but not anything remarkable either.
  21. I have too many other genuine cigars in my collection to consider smoking these. I think the trash bin they go!
  22. Thanks, everyone who chimed in. Yeah, I knew there was no way they could be real. The infamous Vegas trip where I got these from my buddy was over two years ago. I told him right off the bat they were fakes and explained why. He seemed to understand and gave me the rest of them when we departed. I was going to just toss them but ended up keeping them in my "junk" coolerdor (which holds a bunch of cigars I've obtained over the years that I'll probably never smoke). And, for the record, I brought my own legitimate CCs on that trip because even though my friend told me ahead of time he was bringing Cohibas, I knew they wouldn't be real. The only reason I pulled these out the other day is I noticed they had a bit of mold on them. I doubt I'll smoke them and will probably just toss them. I don't like not knowing where my cigars came from. :-) I was really just trying to find out here if there were obvious signs these were fake (besides knowing my friend got them from "a friend who goes to Cuba" and that he got them for dirt cheap compared to what Cohiba Esplendidos should cost). Yeah, they're pretty ugly for an Esplendido, but the pics I think make them look a bit rougher than they do in hand. And the bands, while not perfect, are pretty good compared to some fake Cohiba bands I've seen. Construction is a bit rough, but the one I smoked drew and burned just fine. So pretty decent fakes when you get down to it. At least they weren't filled with short filler floor sweepings and old shoelaces. :-)
  23. I know these are fake. I got them from a friend who knows little about cigars who says he gets them through a friend that regularly travels to Cuba. And he doesn't pay that much for them. All the usual signals that you're dealing with fakes. BUT, I have examined the labels carefully and compared to pics of real Cohiba labels and they seem to check out pretty good except for the slight miscut along the top on a few of the samples where you can start to see another line of white squares. And those are triple caps, right? I even smoked one and it wasn't a bad smoke. In fact, it was actually pretty good. Cuban, probably not, but it was a decent smoke. And for the record I have smoked real Esplendidos in the past and have always been pretty underwhelmed and consider them to be a cigar that is mostly overrated. In other words, the Esplendidos I've had have been "decent smokes" but nothing earth-shattering. Just my opinion. I also cut one open to see if it's filled with short filler and crap like many fakes are and this was all long-filler and pretty good looking tobacco. I have no box to see what these actually came out of as my friend brought them on a trip to Vegas and had them in a ziplock bag. Anyway, I know these have to be fakes, but just wanted to get other opinions based on the pics below. Please let me know what you think.
