  1. I'm a heathen. Outside of wine, I don't want to drink anything that is any more than 1-2 degrees above freezing. I like my drinks COLD.
  2. That was absolutely amazing !!! What a celebration of his life.
  3. Girls Got Rhythm Highway to Hell Shook Me All Night Long But so many other great songs. Definitely in my top 2 or 3 bands ever.
  4. H Upmann Connie #1 or Juan Lopez #1s would be high on my list for this purpose. If small ring gauge cigars are acceptable, the Boli PC is a tasty little bugger and fairly economical.
  5. You know you're getting older when the artists whose songs were the soundtrack of your youth are passing away. While Glenn Frey and the Eagles provided the soundtrack of my young adult years, Johnny Cash and Glen Campbell provided the soundtrack of my adolescent years. I remember watching Glen Campbell's TV show and enjoying his musical talents immensely. His suffering is over, and he's in a better place now. RIP, Glen Campbell.
  6. Living in the US, it's more challenging to try various Cuban cigars, as I can't just walk into a local shop and pick up a few singles. One I'd like to try would be a H. Upmann Sir Winston. Can't bring myself to pull the trigger on a box of these without first trying a few.
  7. Yeah, I'm also a "read more/post less" kind of person, so I guess I better start posting more.
  8. Smoke 'em whenever you have the opportunity. I smoke cigars when I play golf, when I push-mow my yard , when I wash the car and when I take walks. Now, the cigars I smoke during those activities are not my "best" cigars, but they're not dog-rockets either. I save my "best" for when I'm able to sit back and focus on the cigar. But IMO, there's nothing wrong with smoking a cigar on a walk.
  9. We need a JEALOUS button on this damn site !! Very nice. Thanks for the diary and the pictures.
  10. I have the palate of a billy goat, hence my descriptions of cigars is limited to one of the following: it's good - I like it ! it's not good - I don't like it.
  11. You're assumptions are correct, in that I'm flying out of Malpensa/MXP. Thanks for the information. I'll stock up at the LCDH's I visit, and if the DF shop does have something worth buying, well, budgets are made to be broken. Thanks again for the info.
  12. I'll be flying home through Milan, Italy in early August, and was wondering what I could expect when it comes to buying Cuban cigars duty free at the Milan airport. I plan on visiting the LCDH stores in Zurich and Milan, but am thinking I should save some of my cigar budget for the duty-free shopping experience. Thanks in advance for any information you are able to share.
  13. Wow - nice score !! Was that at Fincato ?? When I was there 2 summers ago, there were no LEs or REs.
  14. The only cigars that I buy in tubos are those that are not offered without tubos, such as the Boliver #1. It does make the cigars easier to transport, but my preference would be to buy them without the tubos and save on the cost.
  15. Well done ! And it's awesome to have that quality time alone with your brother. Special times...
  16. I was in Rome two summers ago, but really can't recommend any specific restaurant. At meal time, in whatever part of Rome we were in, we found small street-side restaurants, and the food and service was always excellent. Then again, I'm not a foodie, so a good pizza or some spaghetti carbonara kept me happy. The only decent cigar shop I found in Rome was Fincato. There are plenty of small tobacco shops that would have a very modest selection of cigars. Don't overlook the gelato shops. I hit a different one every day, trying different flavors each time. The only thing that saved me from gaining weight was that we walked everywhere. My dogs were barking by the end of each day. Good luck - Rome is a beautiful city and the people were wonderful.
  17. Like others who have posted, I'm a big Bolivar fan. My favs are the BBFs, #1s and BPC. Just picked up a box of the BCG, and liked the first one I smoked. Will let them set for a bit before digging into the box again. I'll probably cry when I smoke my last #1 and am not able to buy more. The one that doesn't do it for me are the BRCs. Something's off with the blend - just seems a bit too harsh for my tastes.
  18. This is a damn shame. The Fuentes are a wonderful family, and I hate to see this happen to them. Hope the cigars are quickly recovered.
  19. Like others here, I've never received any emails related to the 24:24. Off to check my account settings !
  20. I have a friend at the local shop that I have split boxes with in the past. Personally, I'd rather lay 25 cigars down for aging rather than 12 or 13, but he doesn't have a large cigar budget and this helps him out. Small price to pay to help a buddy.
